![]() ![]() On older versions of Android, you may need to first launch the offending app, then hit the Settings button and opt out of notifications. You could try browsing to the application folder in C:\Program Files (x86)\ICQ and look to see if there is a folder in there with the notification sounds. Select or clear the Notifications check box. On newer models go into settings, notifications and then turn off the annoying ones. Usually the notification sounds are built-into the program, which means you can't really change it, if the application doesn't give you an option to do so. To turn on and turn off email notifications, follow these steps: Gmail. Again, the video above shows where in the menus to find these options. You can even decide if you want them to appear when the phone is locked. You can still get the little pop up icon and not have the irritating little beep every time a message comes in. You need to click on settings in the outlook app. You can also tweak how they appear – as banners on top as pop-ups in the center of the screen. Yandex services send notifications about weather changes, traffic conditions, emergencies, and other events. Go first to “Settings” then “Notifications.” Then scroll down through each IOS feature and app and turn off the ones that are annoyances rather than useful alerts. But what about all those annoying notifications? Do you really want to be interrupted every time an old high school friend posts something inane on Facebook? Good news: Turning off or limiting notifications on your smartphone is easy.
